The Ink Business Cash Card by Chase is a credit card that offers back cash bonuses on purchases you make using the card.
And unlike many business credit cards, there is no annual fee. This appealing feature benefits small companies that may not earn enough rewards to offset the high upfront costs associated with other business cards.
The cashback benefits are tiered, meaning they’re weighted more heavily toward specific categories. Your business will earn more cashback if you use the card to pay for items in these categories, including office supplies and select utility services.
The Ink Business Cash Card Offers Substantial Rewards
This business cash card by Chase provides substantial rewards for everyday business expenses. Business owners can rack up:
- Five percent cash back when you use the card at office supply stores or pay for phone, internet, and cable services. This rate applies to $25,000 worth of total combined purchases in these categories per year.
- Two percent cash back at restaurants and gas stations. This rate also applies to the first $25,000 spent in this tier each year.
- One percent cash back on all other purchases, including those in the categories mentioned above, after you meet the $25,000 threshold for that tier.
Rewards are not accrued for fees, interest, balance transfers, or cash advances against the card. Additionally, you cannot earn awards for cash-like transactions such as money orders, travelers’ checks, or gambling expenditures, including lottery tickets or casino purchases.
Rewards Redemption
Your rewards accrue as points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program. Every dollar earned using your Ink Business Cash Card is equal to 100 points. You can then redeem the accumulated points in one of three ways:
- Statement credit — Your points can be converted back to cash at the same rate of 100 points per dollar and applied directly to your account balance. This statement credit will reduce the amount of debt you owe on your card.
- Bank deposit — Chase can also send you the cash value of your rewards as an electronic bank deposit. This will be remitted directly into your qualified checking or savings account.
- Pay with points — You can use your points to pay Chase or their partner retailers for goods, including gift cards, travel, or other merchandise. When you pay with points, your benefit may be worth more or less than the actual face value of the cash you originally earned.
As an added benefit, if you have any other credit cards that operate under the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, you can transfer points among the cards to pool your rewards.
This is especially advantageous if you have a premium account like Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred, where points can have 1.25 or 1.5 times the value of Ink Business Cash Card points.
Other Ink Business Cash Card Benefits
Besides having a generous cashback reward system and no annual fee, the Inc Card comes with the following perks:
- Welcome offer — Earn a $750 cashback bonus if you spend $7,500 within three months after opening your account.
- Low introductory APR — You will pay no interest on purchases, thanks to a 0% introductory APR (annual percentage rate) for the first 12 months. After that, balances are subject to a variable APR of 13.24% to 19.24%, based on your creditworthiness.
- Employee cards — Let your employees make charges to your account using their card, available at no additional cost. You can set spending limits on each card to control your expenses, and best of all? You will earn the same level of rewards on their expenditures as you make with your card.
- Extended warranty — Items purchased with the Ink Business Cash Card with warranties of three years or less will be covered by an additional one-year extended warranty period.
- Purchase protections — New business purchases are also covered against theft or damage for 120 days, up to $10,000 per occurrence, with a $50,000 maximum on total claims per account.
- Rental car insurance — Business vehicle rentals, whether in the U.S. or abroad, are covered against rental collision damage and theft up to the vehicle’s actual cost.
- Travel and emergency assistance — If your business travel runs into trouble, Chase provides a Benefits Administrator to offer medical or legal referrals and other services.
- Roadside assistance — If you have a flat tire or another roadside emergency, call Chase, and they will dispatch the help you need. (Fees for these services will be billed to your card.)
- Fraud protection — Ink will reimburse you for any fraudulent charges that occurred without your knowledge or permission.
Not Right for You? There Are Alternatives to Business Credit Cards
Despite the rewards and other perks you can earn with this and other business cards, there can be downsides. Credit card issuers will run a hard inquiry on your credit report before approving your application. This can lower your credit score and raise a red flag to potential creditors.
Further, if your credit history is full of negative accounts, your firm may not qualify for the Ink Business Cash Card. Thankfully, alternative financing options exist for business owners with subprime credit.
