How it started

Sonia Anderson was previously a staffing coordinator for another company. She saw an opportunity to start her own business. As a former nurse, she was drawn to the home care field, particularly the staffing aspect, which led to her establishing a nurse registry. Her personal experiences, including the challenges her family faced with home health services when her and her husband's mothers were sick, inspired her to create a business that could overcome those downsides.

How it's going

The business has been operating for 26 years, and Sonia considers it a larger company due to its longevity, though it remains family-based. They have successfully navigated challenges such as natural disasters, like hurricanes, by helping clients prepare and maneuver to get help. Client retention is a major success, with many returning even after seeking other providers or moving away and coming back. The business emphasizes personalized care, advising clients, and seeking information for them when needed.

One challenge is the adoption of new technology by some older workers in the field, as they are not always keen on using new platforms for clocking in and out. While they currently use email systems and platforms for workers to clock in and out, they haven't yet ventured into social media like Facebook, though they hope to in the future. Communication primarily happens through WhatsApp and texting, though texting can sometimes be unreliable.
